Founded by Shane Paul after his father entered his final chapter, Cause was built around a simple realisation: when it matters most, saying the thing is hard. Cause exists to make it a little easier — with Aura, a gentle AI guide who walks alongside the person recording, one small step at a time.

Every Cause is a private line between two people. A son to his dying father. An estranged parent to the daughter they lost touch with. A lawyer to their client, held under privilege. An inmate to their approved contact. The platform doesn't broadcast — it holds.

Cause is a PWA (installable on any phone, no app store needed), uses Passkeys for biometric security, and stores every recording off any single device. Nothing is lost when a device breaks. Aura will always surface the nearest human support line when a moment calls for one.

The platform is free to use, with an optional paid keepsake vault (Cause Print) for families who want their Cause bound as a physical book. A small number of vetted partners — hospices, family therapists, estate lawyers, memoir publishers — appear on the platform, each vetted by Aura against the Cause construct before placement.
