Cause only uses permissions you explicitly tap to allow. Every one is revocable.
Who this is designed for
Cause is built for connections where the direct path is hard or gone — including a person and a loved one in their final stages, an estranged parent and their child, a legal professional and their client under privilege, and an inmate and their approved contact. The permissions below apply the same way to every one of those users.
Camera & microphone
— required to record video/voice Causes. Requested only when you enter the Record Studio. Never runs in the background.
Location (Aura Me)
— optional. If granted, Aura uses it only to time-stamp where each Cause was recorded. Never shared, never sold.
Notifications
— optional. If granted, Aura may nudge you when someone replies. You can turn off any category.
Motion / Battery / Screen sensors (Aura Me)
— optional ambient signals so Aura can suggest better moments. Never streamed to any server — Aura only knows "granted".
Face ID / Touch ID / Windows Hello
— optional biometric lock. The biometric itself never leaves your device. Cause only receives a signed public key.
Marketing use of your Cause
— off by default. On every public Cause creation, you can tap "Yes — I allow Cause to use this in advertising and social campaigns." Revoke any time from your Library.
Family Vault access
— you choose which relatives get an invite code. They only see the Causes you tagged "My family".
Payment method
— stored securely by Stripe, never by Cause.
